A second positive case of COVID-19 linked to the Merritt Secondary School community.
In a letter to parents, SD58 Superintendent Stephen McNiven says this person is also self isolating at home, noting the exposure would have happened on Jan. 6 and 7.
This second positive case follows the confirmation of a case on Sunday with exposure in that first case said to have been on Jan. 4. Its unclear if the two cases are linked, but its not believed to be, given the different exposure dates.
McNiven again says if you’re not contacted by Interior Health, you or your children are not at risk.
“Only the health authority can determine who is a close contact. If you are contacted by the Interior Health Authority, please follow their advice,” he said.
People are being asked to call 811 if they have any questions or concerns about COVID-19.
There are now at least two cases of #COVID19 at #Merritt Secondary school in @sd58connect.
I say at least because we know of two for now, but it could increase in the days ahead. #bcpoli #Kamloops pic.twitter.com/7cX2JLzh9L
