
Interior Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the McKinney Place long-term care home in Oliver after eight residents tested positive for the virus.
“IH will continue to monitor the situation, while implementing additional infection control and preventive measures,” a statement from the health authority said.
“Extensive testing of staff and residents is also underway.
The health authority says COVID-19 outbreak protocols are in place, and all visits to the long-term care unit are on hold. The facility has 61 residents in the 75 publicly funded long-term care beds.
Operated by Interior Health, McKinney Place is connected to South Okanagan General Hospital, but Interior Health says the hospital is not included in this outbreak.
Yesterday, Interior Health declared an outbreak at the Village by the Station long-term care home in Penticton after one staff member and one resident tested positive for COVID-19.
There are also active outbreaks at Mountainview Village and Sun Pointe Village, both in Kelowna.
